1983-1984: Study stay at Lomonosov University, Moscow.
1989:1990: Lecturer for the German Language at Instituto Universitario Orientale, Naples.
1997-1998: Research stay at Bratislava, Novi Sad, Lublin, Prague, Moscow, Ljubljana.
2000: Habilitation in Slavic linguistics, thesis “Die Bedingungen der Unflektierbarkeit in den slawischen Sprachen” (The conditions of unflectedness in the Slavic languages).
Since July 1st, 2003: Full professor of Slavic linguistics at the Slavic Department, University of Klagenfurt (Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt).
From 2009-2013: President of the Austrian Association of Slavists.
Since June 29th, 2004: Director of the writing centre at the University of Klagenfurt.
Since December 2018: Austrian representative in the International Committee of Slavists.
Main areas of research:
Multilingualism, language and gender, academic writing, the morphology of Slavic languages.
